Seachem de*nitrate 500ml is an economical, porous biological filter media designed to remove nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, and organics from freshwater and marine aquariums.
Key Features & Specifications
- Function: Uses aerobic nitrification on the outer surface and anaerobic denitrification at its core to eliminate harmful waste.
- Capacity: Each 500 mL treats about 100–200 liters (25–50 US gallons), depending on your initial nitrate levels and biological load.
- Flow Rate Requirement: Water flow through the media must not exceed 200 L (50 US gallons) per hour for effective anaerobic denitrification.
- Placement: Best used in a canister filter, media reactor, box filter, or chemical filtration module.
- Rinse: Rinse the media with clean water to remove any dust before placing it in the tank.
- Contain: Place the stones inside a fine mesh media bag.
- Monitor: Ensure the water flow across the bag stays under 200 L/h; otherwise, alternative media like Seachem Matrix is recommended.
